I need some advice on a problem I’m facing after retrofitting an OEM oil level sensor to my car.

What has been done so far:
Swapped the oil pan for a version with the sensor mounting hole.
Installed and physically connected the oil level sensor to ECM. Wired the sensor directly into the Engine Control Module (ECM).
Current status:Hardware-wise, everything seems correct.
Diagnostics suggest that the ECM communicates with the sensor and detects its presence. However, the Driver Information Module (DIM / dashboard) continuously displays the message: "Oil level unavailable".
My suspicion:I suspect the issue is software-related. The current software flash in the ECM might lack the active routine for this sensor, or the vehicle's central configuration (Car Configuration File - CCF) in the ECM needs to be updated to let the car know the sensor is now installed.

My questions for the community:
Has anyone successfully done this retrofit and can confirm if a software/configuration change is mandatory for the DIM to display the reading? Is it possible to reflash the ECM or alter the CCF configuration to activate this via VDASH?
If yes, which tab/menu in VDASH should I look into, and what are the exact steps to follow (e.g., changing a specific configuration parameter vs. buying a dedicated software reload/tweak)?
