T5 Autostart stopped working (NOT stop/start)
-
2010 V50 T5. Had it 10 years, and suddenly the Autostart function isn't working. This is not the stop/start feature - I don't have that. This is the engine start feature on 5-cyl cars where you just flick the key to position III and do not have to hold it until the engine runs. Otherwise the car runs fine, no errors.
Does anyone know how it actually works? I'm presuming some sort of relay which controls it, but the relays list in my handbook is not giving me any clues.
It's a very minor annoyance but I'd like it to work again, because after 10 years I keep forgetting to hold the key!
Many thanks

@Caerbannog13
check R6 and R13. Also check the clutch switch, if your car is a manual. -
@Caerbannog13 R6 part number 9441161 or 30765030 depending on the chassis number.
R13 part number 9441160 or 30765032 also depending on the chassis number.
If your VIN ends with a number below -270000 it's the first number. 270000 and higher, the second number. -

Hi Schnappi, thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Curious, I've just had a look and I do not have Relay 6 in my fusebox at all! I'm presuming that because it's starting normally that the starter motor relay is fine, also the clutch switch must be ok because it won't start at all without the clutch depressed. In the list inside the lid, R6 is blank.

@Caerbannog13 R6 seems to be only present at the 1.6D. The starting is completely controled by the ECM once you turned the key, according to VIDA. There are several dependencies how and if this functions operates. Outside temperature, clutch switch, brake switch, battery voltage and so on. If you have VIDA, you might find informations why the autostart failed under Diagnostic/Vehicle communication/CEM/Advanced.
How old is your battery?
