XC60 DAB module retrofit VIDA install problem
-
Včera auto napojeno na živou VIDU, ale ta nabízí jen nový SW pro retrofit dle:
https://accessories.volvocars.com/cs-cz/XC60(-17)/Accessories/Document/audio/audio/VCC-516541/2009/D5 AWD/Manual
číslo SW 31285168, a číslo HW (DABM) 32270870

Vdash doesn't offer SW updates for infotainment HW. The cracked VIDA is outdated and hardware from modelyear 2009 doesn't work in modelyear 2013 and newer. Stick to the numbers from the link you posted HW 32270870 and SW 31285168/31268617.
-
@ps603 small update. HW number 31328586 is for DAB only (no DAB+), which is outdated/not broadcasted anymore, 32270870 supports DAB and DAB+. Small but important difference. And Volvo removed lots of old SW downloads from their VIDA database.

Thank you for quick and clear info, sorry for Czech...but it is not a good news...
DAB+ contains picture a more text compared to DAB without +. But the voice is compatible "backwards" I think. So you can use "old" DAB radio to listen DAB+ standard stations, no need to buy a new machine. And more, there is an upgrade SW in VIDA (
I have a 2009 car and want to use a 2009 DAB module. Model DAB HW 32270870 offered currently by Volvo in the link costs almost 1000 EUR, it is out of reality. You can find a lot of DAB modules on sales from old cars. Volvo is loosing money, because no one will buy the linked new DAB module for 1000EUR. And the same person will not buy a new Volvo because of DAB module missing...
If anyone is capable to find the 2009 SW 31408647, and put it into 2009 car any other way than from VIDA, I would realy appreciate it, and I think I wouldnt be alone.
-
And probably, the DAB HW 32270870 offered currently by Volvo in the link does not support the K104 Variant Attribute, it is usual "Player for 1 CD with MP3.
But only Kód volby 831 nebo 832 nebo kód varianty K216...
So even if I want to spend 1000EUR for the current module, it would be useless...

@ps603 if you want to use a used module from a donor car similar to your own, you "only" need to decode the CEM pin, IMMO pin and security pin with vdash. Then you can disable ITP, add the module and maybe you need to change the car configuration with vdash. The module itself should already have the correct software on it, if it is a used one.
-
OK, that is clear info. Thanks for that. A have ITP removed from the shop, so I only need the 2 PINs than.
A hypothetic question of a beginner: is official VIDA in Volvo shop able to somehow synchronize used audio unit from another car like I have with my car? Do they have "process" for it in VIDA? When I went to a car shop this week, I thought, that ITP remove is the only think, they need to do to add DAB to MOST network... -
@ps603 If ITP is already off, you just need the CEM pin for vdash. The whole car configuration is stored in a small database in the CEM.
Configuration changes through VIDA are done with software downloads and are also stored on the Volvo servers. If you add a new module to the car, it's always 2 downloads. 1x software for the new module, 1x configuration change in the CEM.
If want to replace a defective module from the infotainment with a used one, you just have to disable ITP (infotainment theft protection) and can simply install a used one from a donor car.
If you want to upgrade your infotainment, like adding DAB, by using a used module, you have to add the wiring needed and need to know the correct software number for that CEM configuration change to download and install with VIDA. Or you can use third party tools like vdash, which can modify the CEM configuration way beyond the possibilities/limitations of VIDA, and without any software numbers, to enable that module.
I hope my explanation is understandable. English isn't my native language. -
@T5-T6-Schnappi It is completely clear. The third party tools has straight advantageS. I was just thinking what is the exact difference between SW in VIDA for a piece of HW unit: 1. application, 2. reload, 3. remove and 4. some of units have upgrade.
I now understand, why VIDA doesnt offer SW for the old DAB unit mentioned above: simply because Volvo doesnt sell this "virgin" HW anymore and offer HW replacement of it with different SW number. I am not just sure, if usually VIDA keep SW alowing change of CEM configuration in a "new car" for "old" HW unit and what is usually called: is it application or reload? In DABM instalation instructions VIDA ends with recomendation of installing SW 31282064 and it is called DABM RELOAD, in 34 Index of software, I can see an UPGRADE for DABM almost the same, but ends with 5 (31282065). I am sure just about the REMOVE SW: simply when you replace eg 1 CD player with 6 CD changer, so you use remove SW to change configuration in CEM.
