I have an S60 II with a faulty ECU that has stopped communicating entirely, but I’ve found an identical replacement unit; however, I don’t know how to synchronize the control unit with the immobilizer.
Am I missing something here? Or not possible?

@RobinPe What happened to the car before the ECM went out? And what kind of diagnostics have been done to come to the conclusion that the ECM must be damaged? As this is really unlikely to be the problem here. Did you check the connectors for water ingress/corrosion? Did you check continuity/grounds/voltage supply/fuses/relais towards the ECM and CEM?
Syncing a used ECM from another car is impossible via OBD/software as the VIN specific, unique security/encryption pins for ECM and IMMO data can't be overwritten once they are programmed to a new unit at the factory or dealer. At least that is my current state of information.
Swapping the flash memory of your old ECM to another one on the bench would be required, hoping it isn't corrupted or damaged. Or you need to "virginize" the ECM from the donor car and than clone the software from your old ECM, or perform a software reload with VIDA.
Try to contact some local specialist for ecu repairs and ask them if they know this ECM, and if they can help you in any way if you really think the ECM is dead.

@T5-T6-Schnappi Car was for repair in an other shop, a dent, after repair no more crank, after a whole year they shipped the car to us, communication with ECU stoppes with "Negativ Responce Code 12", no further communication possible with ECU.
(Not sure if they missed to disconnect the battery before (spot)welding .. just oracling.

An other ECU communicates with all of my testers, but as logical, mismatched IMMO, no start.
The failure is the ECU / ECM. There is a very small hope that it is the Voltage regulator TLE8264E, i`m trying to get one. ANd the build in R5T725 CPU is BGA and not swapable for me and my skill.

And all spicialists don`t work on this ECU. Asked ECU.de, AC Tronics, Endera .. no one wants to touch this thing, not even for a mesurement.

You might ask Obbe Tuning about his possibilities https://www.obbetuning.nl/ecu-ecm-klonen/ regarding testing and cloning your ECM.
Spot welding near the ground of the ECM could indeed have killed it.
Do all others ecus in the car communicate as expected, or are there other problems/DTCs besides the ECM?

@T5-T6-Schnappi every thing else is working fine so far.
Battery dead, secondary battery dead, some DCT here and there after a year of an ECU dropping 200mA in Off-State.
But every other Unit is answering Fine.

And thanks for the Adresse, contacted them 🙂
