Volvo S80 MY2000 (built in 1999) – Clone SRS
-
Hi everyone,
I have a 1999-built Volvo S80 (Model Year 2000).
VIN: YV1TS72D2Y1098037My original SRS module is detected by VDASH without any issues. However, it has DTC SRS-0115 (“Internal Fault”), and the fault cannot be cleared.
I have purchased a used replacement SRS module with the official VIDA superseded part number 8645271.
My questions are:
- Can the 8645271 SRS module be cloned successfully using VDASH?
- Does the replacement module need to have exactly the same part number as the original, or is the official VIDA superseded part number sufficient?
- Which VDASH function should I use: Clone, Configure SRS, or another option?
- Is cloning still possible when the original module has a permanent SRS-0115 Internal Fault?
Has anyone successfully done this on an early P2 S80?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello T5 T6 Schnappi,
It is not the BCM. The issue is with the SRS module.
According to the Volvo parts catalog, this SRS module is the direct successor to the original part number. I looked it up in Volvo VIDA and bought this used module based on that information.

@Kurt1977 I think I'm getting old.

The official guide recommends cloning the software and than perform SRS configure. As your original module has a checksum error indicating corrupted software or a bad EEprom , cloning won't work.
You can try to just perform the SRS configure if you install a used module hoping the software is the same than in your original module or at least compatible with your car. If this doesn't work you will need an official VIDA subscription to perform a software reload, but this will only work if the software for the donor part is still present on the servers and if VIDA thinks the part number is somehow compatible with your car. Volvo has started to remove lots of softwares and part numbers for superseded/discontinued modules from their VIDA servers making software downloads impossible for those parts. You can also try to contact some specialists for ecu repairs and ask them if they can fix your original module.
