    Hello guys,
i want to buy flat VDASH config for my 2008 Volvo S40, but i dont know CEM pin for this car, and in Vdash both options to decode pin are greyed out. I use vxdiag nano, if that matters. So question is, Vdash will decode CEM pin after buying flat config to allow changes, or i will get stuck with purchase i cannot use?

Something is happening with the CEM PIN decoding, because a lot of people started to complain that the service is unavailable... Starting to think there is something regulations related...

Vdash can't decode V40/S40 CEM pins. A VDD or Modunlock is needed for decoding through OBD. Alternative would be decoding on the bench. AI decoding might work but is currently unavailable. And don't use crap from Vxdiag for any coding operation, if you don't want to risk bricking your car. Use a good quality DICE clone, Mongoose Pro or Super J2534 instead.

@T5-T6-Schnappi thanks for warning, when i bought i was under impression that is compatible with Vdash. actually mine is S40 from P1 platform. Do you think if I get Mongoose Pro or Super J2534 i will be able to decode CEM with Vdash eventually?

Vxdiag works with vdash and is okay for reading error codes, but it is more than 20 times slower than a DICE, more than 30 times slower than a Mongoose/Super J2534 and highly unreliable when transfering data. Vdash basically supports all J2534-2 compatible adapters, but only DICE(and clones) and Mongoose/Super J2534 are fully tested and recommended.
A Mongoose or Super J2534 won't make a difference regarding PIN decoding. Vdash has no decoding support for P1s before 2011. AI decoding should work, but is currently unavailable.
If your willing and able, you can build a decoding device yourself https://github.com/vtl/volvo-cem-cracker/wiki
Otherwise you will need a VDD https://d5t5.com/article/vdd-p2-cem-pin-decode , Modunlock https://modunlock.com/wp/ or find someone who has access to a legit VIDA subscription and knows how to extract the PIN while transfering a software update to your car. Or you need a specialist who is able to extract the PIN on the bench.

              thanks for comprehensive answer.
In case somebody is interested, i got also answer from D5T5. They stated that is necesarry to have at least small acount to decode, and option to decode with AI will be unavailable at least 2 weeks for technical reasons.
