Hi jv,
No sure if I can help. But out of curiosity, what do the fault codes U230055 and U230056 mean?
Thanks.

@radoslaw317
Happy to share what I learned over the last few months from mechanics and forums on the Volvo SRS.
Quite a few 2006-2011 S80, V70 and XCs use the same SRS module with part number 31264861.
A gentleman stated this particular module is not VIN-specific in one of the forums.
I believe this is correct as there is no VIN (in plain text) in my EEPROM dump. However, the module serial number and the TEMIC barcode code (only the first 10 characters) printed on the module label are present.
This leads me to believe that the replacement unit's serial no. and TEMIC barcode should be preserved during EEPROM cloning.
Regarding the microcontroller flash, inspection of the 256K flash dump (which contains the software program) reveals the presence of the module serial number, Hardware num, Diag. num, Software num. 1 and Software num. 6 reported by VDASH. However, Software num. 2 is not present in either the EEPROM or the flash.
Important: I learned in another forum that changing the flash content will cause the SRS module NOT to communicate with rest of the system and there are confirmed cases.
The 2012-2016 S80 uses an entirely different SRS module which is VIN specific. See this video for EEPROM editing details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhEAUVbzBIo
Someone successfully replaced the S60 SRS module, seatbelts and cleared all fault codes after a minor crash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_PM_DRKoQk
Regarding programmers for the microcontroller (part number 31264861,) I have seen Xprog being used. See one of the images in: https://diagmotors.ru/work-volvo-s80-31264861-srs-repair.php
Thank you for your offer to help. How can I contact you directly? I can do email and Whatsapp.
Many thanks!
@radoslaw317, my UPA-USB programmer software is a bit old. Your particular NEC microcontroller is not on the list of supported NEC microcontrollers.
But I suggest you to install the latest free UPA demo version from Elrasoft (https://www.elrasoft.com/download.htm) and see if your microcontroller is supported.
Download the 2 items below:
Free Universal Programmer Analyser - UPA v2.3 Lite 485 KB

By the way, I spent quite a few hours without getting good solder connections to the SRS PCB board. In the last 3 months, I succeeded 3 times (read and write) out of 100 attempts with a number of modules.
I will probably contact a professional to write the EEPROM binary file for me instead.
If there are other ways of programming the SRS module (without soldering) such as via the module connector or OBDII port, I would love to hear about them.
Thanks.
@radoslaw317, the UPA-USB programmer goes by microcontroller models (i.e. MC9S12XDT384.) Instead of the SRS module part number, can you provide the microcontroller model inside the module for me to look up?
Thanks.
@radoslaw317, I use a UPA-USB programmer.
Thanks @radoslaw317.
Let me give that a try. Thanks muchly!
Below are the details for my original SRS module-
Part number: 31264861
Serial number: 008101000245
TEMIC barcode: FBV8K10A7L
Donor module details-
Part number: 31264861
Serial number: 007112500211
TEMIC barcode: FBV7L25A6J
Both the serial number and the TEMIC barcode are in the EEPROM.
I have a programmer that can read the 4KB EEPROM of the MC9S12XDT256VAL micro-controller inside.
Advice welcomed (i.e. which part of the original module EEPROM content should be cloned into the donor module EEPROM...etc.)
Thanks!
Thanks @radoslaw317.
My original SRS module is showing the SRS-U300000 (internal communications error) which indicates a hardware problem although my car was never involved in any accident. That's why I inquired about how to make a donor module work with my car using VDASH.
Thanks again.
Thanks @radoslaw317 for your reply and congratulations on resolving your Volvo electronic issues!
Per your recommendation, I will get a used module with the same Volvo part number as my original SRS module for replacement.
I was carefully reading your detailed post (from 17 hours ago.) Am I right in understanding below was what you did to fix the SRS issue:
Removed the donor SRS module from the car and restored the EEPROM content to its original state (which includes the previous crash date).
Use VDASH to configure the donor SRS module to work with your car.
Many thanks!
Hi @D5T5-David,
I was reading the "Preconfiguration" section of the SRS configuration page (https://d5t5.com/article/srs-config) and wonder what is involved in "cloning firmware".
The micro-controller inside my SRS module has a 4KB EEPROM and 256KB flash. I learned when the 256KB flash of the donor unit has been overwritten (with the content from another unit,) the module loses communication (module not found in VDASH.)
In my case, both the EEPROM and flash of the donor unit were overwritten with the content of my original unit and the donor unit lost communication afterwards.
Your kind help will be much appreciated!
Albert
Hi everyone, I was wondering if the following are the correct steps to use "Configure SRS" to code a new/used module (part no. 31264861 or 31288291) to work with my 2009 S80 T6?
Thanks.
